Demonstration of blast inhibitors in live action
Demo will take place, courtesy of Special Materials Ltd., at the Interior Ministry troops firing range located not far from Peterhof. It is planned to present two consequent explosions of TNT 5 kilogram charges. One explosion will be unprotected, the other one will be localized by the "Fountain" blast inhibitor. In both cases the overpressure history will be recorded instrumentally and a visual control of the crashers will be provided along with video recording.
The results of the measurements are to show the effect of blast mitigation by "Fountain" inhibitor, which in a vast number of blast tests has demonstrated the 5 to 10 times attenuation of blast power.
The program of the visit to the test site includes also an open-air lunch in a military style.
The weather in July is usually fine, but just in case, participants are advised to take along an umbrella. Dust-proof costumes, for those who wish, will be available at the registration desk.
We anticipate it should be an enjoyable experience for the experimentalists and those who like practical action. We do not recommend this option for children and people with health problems.
