Technical note
concerning preparation of electronic presentations
(a supplement to the Third Announcement)
[ the Russian version of the Third Annoucement is here]
Electronic presentations can be either in the PowerPoint format (PPT) or in the Portable Document Format (PDF).
If you choose the first (PPT) option, then please take precautions in order to avoid misrepresentation of foreign letters and mathematical symbols after the file
transfer from one computer to another:
- Mathematical formulae (especially complicated ones, displayed equations, etc.)
are better to insert as pictures (e.g., JPG or GIF).
This will guarantee that all symbols will be reproduced always
in the same manner, independent of the computer in use.
Besides, when created
using LaTeX, they will look more handy.
- When saving your final version of the PPT file on the disk, save it with fonts.
For this purpose (for example, if you use MS PowerPoint),
when saving the document, press the button "Service" (near the
upper right corner of the window "Save document")
and choose "Parameters" from the dropdown menu.
In the window that appears, check "Embed TrueType fonts" and press "OK".
