The section of
   Relativistic Astrophysics and Gravitational Waves
at the Astronomy Scientific Council

of the General Physics and Astronomy Department
     of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The section was organized by the Astronomy Scientific Council on May 17 1999 in order to coordinate the studies in the Relativistic Astrophysiscs and Gravitational Waves carried out in Russia. The main goals of the section are evaluation of the current state and perspective of the studies in different branches of the field, planning of studies and conferences, evaluation of scientific projects and programs. The structure of the section was discussed by many Russian groups actively working in the field and it was approved by the section participants at the meeting held on Oct. 21, 1999 in Moscow.
