Space-time distribution of absorption systems in quasar spectra

A statistical analysis of the spatial-temporal distribution of absorption-line systems observed in QSO spectra within the cosmological redshift interval z=0.0-3.88 is carried out using modern statistical approaches. At a relevant significance level, the existence is shown of a regular (quasi-periodical) sequence of maxima (peaks) and minima (dips) in the distribution of absorption matter. Possible explanations of this sequence are discussed.
