Postgraduate courses have been carried out at the Institute since the first years of its existence.
At present, postgraduate courses are carried out on the basis of the "Charter on Postgraduate Courses at Ioffe Institute", approved by the Scientific Council of the Institute.
Admission to the postgraduate courses at the Institute is funded from the federal budget and under contracts for the provision of paid educational services in the following scientific specialties of training scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel:
1.3.1 Space Physics, Astronomy
1.3.3 Theoretical physics
1.3.5 Physical electronics
1.3.6 Optics
1.3.8 Condensed matter physics
1.3.9 Plasma physics
1.3.11 Semiconductor physics
1.4.4 Physical chemistry
The duration of full-time postgraduate programmes is 4 years.
Full-time postgraduate students receive a scholarship, have the right to defer conscription in the army, can be employed in the Institute's laboratories.
For nonresident postgraduates there is a limited number of places in the dormitory within walking distance from the Institute.
Citizens with disabilities have the opportunity to study at postgraduate courses at the Ioffe Institute only upon the conclusion of a medical commission.
