Software and hardware design for the experiment support and measurements

Alexander Klochkov

Starting from 1987 we designed many programs for experiments support. First - the disks support for programming system QUASIC (for SI11-03 computer) and software for luminescence experiments. For display measurement results we designed scientific graphic software.

For transfer data from old LSI-11 computers to IBM PC we designed software for read and write DOS-formatted diskettes on LSI-11.

In the hardware area an IBM PC interface card was designed for connection CAMAC controller to computer and low-level software for it.

Next project - designing an IBM PC interface card for luminescence measurement. Card includes step-motor controller, based on I8049 microprocessor and photon counter.

In 1996 - 1997 years we designed and produced control system for epitaxial set-up for laboratory of our Institute. It includes multichannel ADC and DAC modules, digital input modules, multichannel modules for control gas switches, processor module, based on AT89C51 microcomputer and central computer (IBM PC-486). Control program allows user to described hardware structure. It includes interpreter for special hardware control language. This language can use parallel processes, check user-defined alarm states. Program can work in automatic and manual modes. It was written on C++ language.

From 1997 we have been designing and making measurement system for railway in collaboration to other company. System is used for check the rails and ground quality. It includes optical measurement modules with CCD linear sensor, special 2 MBaud network and computer IBM PC. Control program allows to measure and write to hard disk 20 channels with 8 kHz frequency. This program uses special driver for collection of data. Now we modify the system for measuring of ground reaction. We measured positions of sleepers.

In 2000 we designed and made two channels ADC CAMAC module for 12 bits and 40 MHz speed, memory - 256 K points to channel. This module is used for high-speed plasma measurements.

Also we work for support the network and computers in laboratory.
