Sector of Theory of Transport & Optical Phenomena in Semiconductors
We develop the theory of transport, optical and magnetic phenomena in semiconductors and low-dimensional systems — electron hydrodynamics, spin–orbit physics, Dyakonov surface waves and magnetic semiconductors — at the Ioffe Institute in St. Petersburg.
Weekly "Tea seminar"
Загрузка…
Founded in 1982 by Michel Dyakonov — the oldest active condensed-matter seminar at the Institute. Every Thursday begins with tea.
Research directions
Magnetic semiconductors & magnetic systems
Magnetism in (Ga,Mn)As and dilute magnetic semiconductors, exchange interactions and spin ordering in disordered solids.
Electronic liquid theory & hydrodynamics
Viscous flow of two-dimensional electrons, hydrodynamic magnetotransport and collective modes in ultra-clean conductors.
Surface electromagnetic waves & plasmonics
Dyakonov surface waves, plasmon–polaritons, metamaterials and spatial dispersion in layered photonic media.
Spin & quantum phenomena in nanostructures
Spin–orbit transport, optical orientation and the quantum optics of single emitters in semiconductor nanostructures.
