How to obtain visa

Participants who need a visa to enter Russian Federation are to complete the relevant fields in the Registration Form which will be available from March 15, 2012, upload a scanned copy of the passport page with a photo, and submit it to Organizing Committee before April 20. Then after one and half month, each participant and accompany person will receive an official Invitation Letter issued by Russian Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Invitation Letter is necessary to apply for a BUSINESS VISA in the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Russian Federation.

The Invitation letter will be sent by fax to the number given in the Registration Form. If you would need the original of the Invitation Letter for the application please contact the Organizing Committee.

In addition the Organizing Committee may send by e-mail for your own use an Invitation Letter to ISSO-2012 with the Ioffe Institute letter head. This letter, signed by the Chair of Organizing Committee, is not valid for Russian Consulate or Embassy.

On an emergency basis and for an additional cost, a Voucher for obtaining a TOURIST VISA can be issued urgently by a tourist company at the Hotel "Saint-Petersburg" within a week and sent to you by fax.

Important:

•   All foreign visitors entering Russia must have a valid passport (expire date not earlier than 6 months after the departure date).

•   The invitation will be issued for the staying period from July 8 to July 16, 2012, if not otherwise specified in the Registration Form (in Comments).
