The International Summer School of ITN "SPINOPTRONICS" (ISSO-2012) will be held in St. Petersburg on July 10-14, 2012 (Tuesday-Saturday) with the participation of our colleagues from ITN "CLERMONT4" and "INDEX". This school is organized by the Ioffe Institute of RAS, in particular, by the Ioffe node of the ITN "SPINOPTRONICS".

Spin-optronics is an interdisciplinary research field, which has recently appeared at the crossroads of fundamental physics of spin effects and the quantum photonics and optoelectronics. Most of the innovation in the spin-optronics and prospects for future applications are based on the last decade spectacular progress in nanotechnology. Quantum confinement of the particle motion in one or more dimensions drastically changes all spin-related phenomena. The purpose of the school is therefore to disseminate knowledge in the field of fundamental physics and to give an idea about the modern trends in the optical and electrical control and manipulation of spins, from individual electrons to macroscopic spin systems. It also includes consideration of the latest advances in nanotechnology applied to spin-optronic structures.
